- Bicycles-Metro (Bicycle Stores on Westside): For $7 an hour, or $25-$30 for the day you can bike the city like Diddy! I recommend taking the Hudson River down to the Brooklyn Bridge, then back across the Williamsburg Bridge and up the east side (231 W 96th St New York, NY 10025 - (212) 663-7531)

- Get kitted out at In God We Trust: Great little boutique. I love their flannel ties and pristine coloured leather shoes. Nice holdalls too (265 Lafayette St New York, NY 10012 - (212) 966-9010 - www.ingodwetrustnyc.com)

- Coffee at M Rohr's: Perfect for your "Sunday-New-York-Times-meets-a-cup-of-coffee" needs, M Rohr's has that old-school feel to it (coffee in bins) vs. the Starbucks' assembly line feel. It's a little place, so it's easy to walk past. It also can fill up fast (303 E. 85th St - (212) 396-4456)

- Afternoon Drinks at the Boathouse: After a day of walking in the park or baking in the sun, the boathouse is a perfect for a couple glasses of wine with some cheese and fruit.

- The Boat Basin Cafe: On a sunny, swealtering afternoon, the cafe is a great place to get a breeze off the water, some sun, delicious food and a little tipsy (79th Street at the Hudson River)

- East River Park: Ride your bike, bring lunch, blanket, ipod, camera and good book or mag and chill on the east river. Never as busy as the westside great view of BKYLN, the bridges, boats and an occasional seaplane taking off or landing.

- Beauty Bar: Manicures and martinis? Yes, please. (231 E 14th St New York, NY 10003 - (212) 539-1389)

- Saturday at Alphabet City Flea Market: This little flea market in an empty parking lot just off Avenue A is perfect for a bit of vintage shopping. There are always TONS of coats and dresses for the ladies and as well just random second hand items. It's great for a Saturday afternoon... winter or summer.

- Staten Island Ferry: With amazing views of the downtown NYC skyline, the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Governors Island and Staten Island, it is definitely worth the price of nothing. The one way trip takes about 25 minutes (so an hour travel to SI and back). There is a schedule up on the Staten Island Ferry website http://www.siferry.com/ This is a great thing to do alone if you want to clear your mind, relax, and have the fresh sea air blow on your face. It is also great for a free romantic end to a date. Being with someone special overlooking the most beautiful city. Its a great way to get close.
